About the UW Data Repository?

The University of Wyoming Libraries and ARCC/UW-IT collaboratively offer the UW Data Repository which is designed to provide two main functions:

  1. a place for UW researchers to store data associated with research publications or datasets as publications themselves, and be in compliance with funder requirements;
  2. a storage service for UW researchers who need to reliably store and exchange data with students and collaborators anywhere in the world.

A part of the larger petaLibrary infrastructure, Data Curation and Publishing is led by the UW Libraries' Digital Collections Office and is provided by the University as a service to UW researchers who, by choice or necessity, cannot publish their data in research domain-specific repositories, publisher repositories or other external repositories. This may be because suitable services don't exist, are too expensive, or because the researcher prefers to associate UW (and their research team) as the authoritative home for the data.

There is no charge for data stored in this repository, but it must meet publication criteria established by the UW Libraries and cannot be changed once published. Data stored here is world readable, in most cases governed by the Creative Commons Zero License, and has no access restrictions aside from embargoes.

The Policies page addresses our Data Collection Policy in detail as well as the Deposit License, and Terms of Use.
